Video Copilot Sci-Fi Weapons FX Tutorial Posted about 5 years ago by Simon Day - Posted in Tutorials

Video Copilot certainly didn't waste any time bringing us another tutorial following on from their recent shockwave creation guide. We had been hoping this one was in the works after they teased us with a preview of the final outcome several weeks ago.

We get to make some fantastic sci-fi weapon muzzle flashes, though don't let the word sci-fi put you off as many of the techniques used are transferrable skills for other projects, especially learning how to track lights onto objects.

The tutorial uses the paid for plugin Shockwave (get it from us for 5% off), but you could also follow the previous tutorial and try to make your own.

The sound effects used are from their MotionPulse audio collection, also available in a bundle with Shockwave. Ideal for those of you that want to perfectly recreate Andrew Kramer's impressive sci-fi weapon effects.

So load up After Effects and enjoy!
