Boris FX have released an update for Boris RED to greatly improve performance and functionality.

Boris RED 5.5 is a significant update, here's what's new:

Boosted performance that provides almost near real time previews of all your titles, transitions and effects from within Avid.

Backwards compatible with any of your previous Avid FX Projects. Open legacy Media Composer projects in Media Composer/Symphony 8 and edit Avid FX titles and effects with the newest version of Boris RED.

The text tool in the Boris FX toolbar has been added to Mac platforms to appear in the same way as the previous Windows toolbar. In the Boris RED preview panel text can now be created and manipulated.

For Windows users the text window has had a makeover, with the look and feel revamped. You can get even more accurate text sizing by using numeric sidebars that have been added.

Avid Media Composer 8, Symphony 8, and NewsCutter Compatibility. Boris RED 5.5 and onwards will support all future versions of Avid editing and finishing applications.
